Impact Test Systems

BioMechanica is in the final stages of developing a suite of impact testing tools, adaptable to a wide range Sports Equipment and Sports Surface protocols. A single package can adapt to all your impact testing requirements and built in verification tools will give you confidence in the results. Now taking orders for January 2003 delivery.

Impact Test Software

Complete data acquisition and analysis package with verifiable test results

Sports Surface Tests

Sports Surfaces (ASTM F-355)
Natural and Artificial Turf Football Fields (ASTM F-1936)
Natural Turf (Clegg Hammer, ASTM F1702)
Running tracks, Indoor & Outdoor Courts (DIN Artifical Athlete)

Playground Surface Tests
ASTM F1292 (Playground Surfacing)
CSA and EIN standards

Helmet Tests
ASTM, NOCHSE and Snell standards

  • Works with most National Instruments data acquisition systems. We can recommend or supply instrumentation to meet your needs.

  • Software wizards guide you through setting up data acquisition,   test protocols and customized reports.

  • Built in protocol and report templates for many standard tests.

  • Uniaxial and Triaxial accelerometry.

  • Digital and Analog velocimeter timing.

  • Remote START capability

  • Digital IO channels for controlling your test equipment.

  • Fourth order Butterworth digital filter for  SAE J211 CFC1000 data channel or user-selected corner frequency.

  • Built-in spectrum analyser for verifying system frequency response.

  • Built in tools for verifying HIC and SI calculations.

  • Dynamic mathematical models for estimated scores on other tests. (e.g. estimate Clegg Hammer and DIN force reduction scores from  F355-A test results.

  • Optional data channel optimisation.

  • Automatic cross-checking of accelerometer and velocimeter inputs (impulse matching)

  • Manual and your standards documents available from the main menu.

Verification Tools

A suite of tools for verifying that your impact test system meets accelerometer data channel and data processing requirements.

  • Generates white noise and square wave pulses for frequency response analysis.

  • Simulates accelerometer signals for verification of g-max, HIC and SI determinations.

  • Diagnostic tools help detect common problems with time constants, frequency response and filtering.

  • Works with the analog and digital outputs of your National Instruments data acquisition system. (Or we can recommend or supply appropriate hardware)

Impact Test Hardware

  • Complete test systems for sports surfaces (ASTM F355-A) and natural turf (ASTM F1702)

  • F355-A and F1702 missiles and drop tubes
  • F-1702 systems, with better than 0.1g resolution, NIST traceable calibrations and 1 MHz velocimeter.
  • Custom data acquisition systems for uniaxial and triaxial accelerometry with verifiable data channel characteristics.
